Normally at this time of year we would be talking about the exciting events of the upcoming Annual Singleton Reynolds Golf tournament. We’d be busy gathering some amazing donated prizes for the silent auction, and spreading some love for their ongoing support across our social channels. Of course Covid has unfortunately changed so much for so many this year, and this golf tournament is no exception. We are hopeful for a stellar return in 2021, having even set a tentative date, and are in talks about some alternative fundraising that can include social distancing in case it comes to that too. We will keep you all posted on what the plans are as we know!

Even though this years event had to be cancelled, we are still celebrating almost two decades of support and partnership from this amazing business, so we thought we’d share some of the history. Singleton Reynolds (formerly Singleton Urquhart) has been one of the major supporters of Childhood Cancer Family Support since the charity was formed in 2002 (known formerly as the BC Childhood Cancer Parents Association- BCCCPA). To date they have raised approximately $400,000 by initially holding live and silent auctions in their office every Christmas for the first seven years. This was followed by years of golf tournaments and silent auctions up to the present time.

Back in 2002 we were a small group of parents who had children with cancer and knew how financially devastating it could be. Our goal was to help other families by giving them financial support but we weren’t sure how to go about it. We were introduced to Singleton Urquhart by a friend who worked there and the rest is history. They gave us the strength and confidence to eventually go out into the community and organize our own fundraising events and we are still going strong 18 years later.

We will always be thankful to them for their support and trust in us. So many families have been helped throughout the years because of their generosity. We work with the social workers at BC Children’s Hospital who identify the families struggling the most. We are unique in that we provide timely financial support for day to day expenses in cases where need is determined to be imminent and where other funding supports are not available.

Thank you Singleton Reynolds (Urquhart) for always being there for us and giving us the strength to build our organization to what is is today. We can’t wait to celebrate (in person) with you again soon!

Tentative Golf Tournament date set for June 21st, 2021.
